Lesson 48 — I See Your Point, But…

我理解你的考虑，不过……

本课只有一个现实任务：在敏感请求中承认对方的合理考虑，同时坚定、礼貌地说明边界，并确认一个双方都能执行的版本。

1. Before You Start

本课目标

学完本课，你能够：

这是Unit 12整合课，不新增主要语法。礼貌边界不是谈判技巧的“话术”，而是让事实、决定和下一步清楚。Aisha不必以免费额外工作换取关系修复；Priya也可以说明真实的预算与时间需要。

2. Main Conversation

A clear boundary can preserve the relationship

Lena sends her correction. Priya asks Aisha and Lena for a short meeting so the three of them can confirm what remains possible.

Part A — Hearing the need without accepting the request

Priya: Thanks for meeting with me. I see now that the Friday graphics were never agreed. We have a small launch budget, and I hoped the poster could be adapted quickly.

Aisha: I see your point, but I can't commit to three extra graphics as volunteer work.

Priya: I understand. Could we reduce the request to one schedule graphic? We still need something by Friday.

Aisha: I understand why the timing matters; however, that item is still outside the one poster I agreed to make.

Lena: And I should have checked with Aisha before I suggested otherwise. The Friday expectation came from my note, not from her.

Priya: That's clear. Aisha, what part of the project can you agree to?

Aisha: What I can agree to is the original poster after the final text and permissions are approved. That commitment hasn't changed.

Priya: Would a simpler schedule graphic with no photographs work?

Aisha: Not by Friday. That doesn't work for me because my current client deadlines are already fixed.

Priya: I appreciate the direct answer.

Part B — Defining the workable version

Aisha: If you need more than the original poster, we'll need a separate brief, an agreed fee and a realistic turnaround.

Priya: I wish the launch budget were larger, but it isn't. For Friday, the center can use its existing neutral schedule template.

Lena: That keeps the urgent need separate from Aisha's commitment.

Priya: Yes. I'll withdraw the Friday request and remove Aisha's name from that task.

Aisha: Thank you. If funding is approved later, send the extra brief and I'll decide after reviewing it. Please don't list me as assigned before I answer.

Priya: Agreed. Nothing additional will be assigned without your written acceptance.

Lena: My correction also says that the original poster depends on approved text and permissions. I won't connect it to the wayfinding signs or other launch materials.

Aisha: Good. I still want to contribute that one poster when the inputs are ready.

Priya: Then our confirmed version is: the center uses its template on Friday, Aisha keeps the one-poster volunteer commitment, and any extra design becomes a separate future request.

Aisha: Exactly. I see the center's time pressure, but this is the version I can responsibly agree to.

After the meeting

Priya emails the three-point summary that afternoon. The center uses a neutral schedule template containing no candidate photograph or story. No extra design brief is opened, because additional funding has not been approved. Aisha's original one-poster commitment remains conditional on approved text and permissions.

6. Grammar Refresh — 让步不等于让出边界

1. but / however

I see your point, but I can't commit to the extra work.
I understand why Friday matters; however, the scope was never agreed.

but自然口语；however略正式，常在新分句前后形成停顿。

2. 先理解，再给决定

I understand why the timing matters.
That doesn't work for me.

理解原因不是同意请求。不要用很长的理解段落把自己的决定藏起来。

3. 范围与条件

What I can agree to is the original poster.
If you need more, we'll need a separate brief.

第一句确认现有范围；第二句说明新范围的必要条件。它不是未来合作保证。

让步部分语气温和，决定部分使用清楚下降调。不要把最终边界说成持续上扬的问题语气。
