Lesson 51 — The Feedback Wasn't Very Clear

这条反馈不够清楚

本课只有一个现实任务:把模糊反馈转成具体、可执行且能验证的修改要求。

1. Before You Start

本课目标

学完本课,你能够:

  • 识别只表达印象、却没有指出位置或动作的反馈;
  • 请求具体位置、示例和期望结果;
  • suggest / ask / recommend / point out准确转述反馈;
  • 复述一项修改并请反馈者确认;

2. Main Conversation

From impression to revision

Daniel sends version 0.7 after the brief is clarified. Priya replies with three comments: “Make the opening warmer,” “Make the middle more practical,” and “The contacts feel busy.”

Part A — Asking what the feedback means

Daniel: Thanks for reviewing it. Could you be more specific about what feels cold in the opening?

Priya: The heading says “Greeter Instructions,” and the first line begins with a rule. It doesn't explain why the role matters.

Daniel: What would “warmer” look like in practice?

Priya: Keep the instructions, but start with one welcome line: “Thanks for helping visitors find the side gallery confidently.”

Daniel: That's clear. Can you give me an example of what feels impractical in the middle?

Priya: The break handoff is a paragraph. A volunteer scanning a phone may not see the sequence quickly.

Daniel: Are you suggesting that I turn it into numbered steps?

Priya: Yes—who contacts the backup, where the handoff happens and when the first person can leave.

Daniel: So the change you're asking for is a three-step handoff, not more information.

Priya: Exactly.

Part B — Reporting and confirming the changes

Daniel: Your third note says the contacts feel busy. Is the issue the number of contacts or the layout?

Priya: The layout. The names, roles and extensions are all in one sentence.

Daniel: Would a small table with the columns “Situation,” “Contact role” and “Extension” solve it?

Priya: Yes. Keep the three roles, but separate them visually.

Daniel: Let me summarize the feedback to make sure I've got it right. You suggested adding one purpose line, asked me to turn the handoff paragraph into three numbered steps, and recommended a three-row contact table.

Priya: Correct. I also pointed out that none of those changes adds new scope.

Daniel: Good. That's specific enough to act on. I'll revise those three locations and leave the approved content unchanged.

Priya: When can I see the new version?

Daniel: By two tomorrow. Lena can check the wording at three, and Sam can verify the access and contact details before final sign-off.

Priya: That works. Please show the changes in comments so we can verify that each note was addressed.

Check the story

  1. What makes the opening feel cold to Priya?
  2. Which exact welcome line does she propose?
  3. Why is the handoff paragraph impractical?
  4. What three elements must the handoff steps show?
  5. Is the problem with the number of contacts?
  6. How does Daniel summarize the three agreed revisions?

Part B —

Could you be more specific? 用来把主观印象变成可观察的问题。What would ... look like in practice? 询问实际成品应呈现什么样子。

4. Read, Notice, Understand

Original feedback card

Location Original feedback Missing information
opening Make it warmer. which wording; intended effect
middle Make it more practical. which paragraph; what action format
contacts This feels busy. content or layout; desired structure

Actionable version

Location Evidence Agreed change Check
opening heading + rule-first opening add one purpose line purpose visible before rules
handoff paragraph hard to scan use three numbered steps who / where / when present
contacts three items in one sentence use three-row table roles unchanged

5. What People Actually Say

本课负荷说明

本课有6项新的反馈澄清词块。第49—50课语言在练习中近距离复现。

1. Could you be more specific about …?

能否更具体说明……?中性;请求位置或变量,不表示拒绝反馈。

2. What would that look like in practice?

实际呈现会是什么样?把抽象目标转成可观察效果。

3. Can you give me an example?

能给一个例子吗?例子用于理解方向,不一定要逐字复制。

4. Are you suggesting that …?

你的意思是建议……吗?复述一个可能修改并邀请纠正。

5. So the change you're asking for is …

所以你要求的修改是……。把讨论收束为具体动作。

6. That's specific enough to act on.

这已经具体到可以行动。确认反馈包含足够位置、动作和效果。

Don't Say It That Way

防御或猜测 更有效的回应
What does “better” even mean? Could you be more specific about the section you want changed?
Fine, I'll rewrite everything. Are you suggesting that I revise the handoff paragraph only?
I know what you mean. Can you give me one example so I can confirm the direction?
Done. The three-step handoff is in version 0.8; could you verify it?

6. Grammar in the Scene — 转述反馈动作

1. suggest + -ing

Priya suggested adding one purpose line.

不要说suggested me to add

2. ask + person + to do

She asked me to turn the paragraph into three steps.

这里明确谁执行动作。

3. recommend + noun / -ing / that-clause

She recommended a contact table.
She recommended using a table.
She recommended that we use a table.

本课只要求识别并使用其中一种自然结构。

4. point out that

She pointed out that the changes do not add scope.

用于指出一个重要事实或风险,不自动表示批评。

5. 转述后仍需确认

You suggested…, asked…, and recommended…. Is that accurate?

准确转述不是替对方作最终决定。

快速练习

  1. Priya suggested __________ a purpose line. (add)
  2. She asked Daniel __________ the paragraph. (shorten)
  3. She recommended __________ a table. (use)
  4. She pointed out __________ the roles should stay unchanged. (that)
  5. Are you suggesting that I __________ this section only? (revise)

7. Sound Natural — 反馈中的位置和动作

Could you be more specific about the OPENING?
Are you suggesting that I turn the PARAGRAPH into THREE STEPS?
So the change you're asking for / is a THREE-ROW TABLE.

重读位置 + 动作 + 结果,能让反馈从“感觉”变成可执行信息。

影子跟读

先读一条模糊反馈,再用两个问题把它转成具体修改。最后用一句So the change…收束。

8. Practice

A. 理解检查

  1. Priya asks Daniel to remove all instructions.
  2. The welcome line explains why the greeter role matters.
  3. The handoff needs more content.
  4. The contact list contains too many roles.
  5. Daniel will preserve the already approved scope.
  6. Priya wants changes visible in comments.

B. 模糊反馈诊断

每条缺少什么:location / evidence / action / intended effect

  1. Make it cleaner.
  2. Page two is too dense.
  3. Use a clearer order.
  4. New users may miss the deadline.

C. 把三条反馈改成可行动版本

  1. “The introduction is weak.”
  2. “The steps are confusing.”
  3. “The ending needs more energy.”

  • where;
  • what evidence;
  • what change;
  • what intended effect;
  • how to verify.

交换角色后,第二轮加入一条B不同意的推断。

G. 陌生声音迁移

听Riley的语音反馈两遍,不看文字稿,记录:

  1. 哪一页;
  2. 哪个具体问题;
  3. 建议的两个修改;
  4. 哪些内容不应改变;
  5. 何时需要修订版。

H. 实用写作:反馈跟进

写110—150词,包括:

  • 感谢反馈;
  • 列出三条原始反馈;
  • 为每条写具体位置和动作;
  • 用三个不同reporting verbs转述;
  • 标明不变范围;
  • 给出修订版本和确认时间。

I. 中译英情境表达

  1. 能否更具体说明开头部分?
  2. 实际呈现会是什么样?
  3. 能给我一个例子吗?
  4. 你的意思是建议改成编号步骤吗?
  5. 所以你要求的修改是一个三行表格。
  6. 这已经具体到可以行动。

9. Make It Yours

反馈改写

找一条自己收到或给出的低风险模糊反馈,隐去私人信息。把它改成:位置、证据、动作、预期效果、验证方式。

90秒互动录音

先说模糊反馈,再模拟两轮澄清和最终复述。不能直接跳到“我懂了”。

两天后的检查

只看修改结果,尝试还原对应反馈。如果无法还原,说明反馈记录仍不够具体。

7C参考

  1. In the first paragraph, the purpose is not stated. Add one sentence that tells the reader what the document will help them do; check that the purpose appears before background detail.
  2. In steps two and three, two actions are combined. Separate them into numbered actions with one owner each; ask a new reader to put them in order.
  3. The final paragraph ends without a next action. Add one sentence with the owner and deadline; verify that the reader can answer who does what next.

7D参考

  1. I've been revising the opening.
  2. I've been checking each comment against the new brief.
  3. So far, I've updated two sections.
  4. I'm still waiting on the contact-layout confirmation.
  5. The main blocker is final sign-off.
  6. My next checkpoint is tomorrow at two.

7E参考

  1. Can we clarify the feedback?
  2. Could you confirm which section you mean?
  3. Could you confirm whether the content stays the same?
  4. When you say “clearer,” do you mean numbered steps?
  5. Who has final approval?
  6. Let me reformulate that: the content stays, but the handoff becomes three steps.

7G文字稿

Hi, this is Riley. I reviewed page one of the volunteer briefing. The arrival section is accurate, but the first two sentences repeat the same time in different words. I suggest keeping the time once and adding the entrance name beside it. I also recommend moving the service-desk position into the numbered sequence. Please keep the approved contact roles and the one-page limit unchanged. Could you send the revised version by Thursday at two?

答案:

  1. Page one.
  2. The arrival time is repeated in the first two sentences.
  3. Keep the time once and add the entrance name; move the service-desk position into the numbered sequence.
  4. The approved contact roles and one-page limit.
  5. Thursday at two.

7H参考

Thanks for the review. I have translated the three comments into specific revisions. First, you suggested adding one purpose line before the opening rules. Second, you asked me to replace the break-handoff paragraph with three numbered steps showing who, where and when. Third, you recommended presenting the same three contact roles in a table rather than one sentence. These changes affect wording and layout only; the approved audience, one-page limit, operational scope and role-based contacts remain unchanged. I will upload version 0.8 by Thursday at 2:00. Lena will check wording at 3:00, and Priya can confirm the three revisions before final sign-off at 4:00.

7I参考

  1. Could you be more specific about the opening?
  2. What would that look like in practice?
  3. Can you give me an example?
  4. Are you suggesting that I use numbered steps?
  5. So the change you're asking for is a three-row table.
  6. That's specific enough to act on.

开放题答案不唯一,但每条反馈必须能定位、执行和验证。

11. Self-check

为每项选择:能做到/还不稳定/需要重学

  • 我能识别模糊反馈缺少的变量。
  • 我能请求位置、证据、动作和例子。
  • 我能正确使用常见reporting verbs。
  • 我能复述修改并邀请纠正。
  • 我能听懂陌生语音中的修改与不变项。
  • 我能写一则110—150词可执行反馈跟进。

若有两项以上选择“需要重学”,先重做第3—5部分和第7部分B—H;换三条模糊反馈再测试。
